Background & Experience
Houston graduated from Samford University in 2008, where he received his BBA and Masters of Accountancy. After graduating, he began working for a Big Four firm, where he spent eight years specializing in income tax financial reporting for SEC-registered clients. While there, he was in charge of several large compliance engagements for both federal and state filings, while also managing multi-location teams of up to 25 individuals. In his over nine years in public accounting, he has focused on providing tax services to community banks, broker-dealer and other financial institutions. Additionally, he has extensive experience in providing tax services including ASC 740 tax provisions under US GAAP, federal and state tax return compliance, state tax controversy and corporate tax consulting. Houston also has experience working with valuation allowances and Sarbanes-Oxley Section 404 internal control documentation related to income taxes. Since joining PKM in 2017, he has worked closely with our Tax Partners from his office in Dothan, AL.

Hobbies & Interests
In his free time, Houston enjoys spending time with his wife, family, and friends. He also enjoys tennis, golf, grilling outside, and cheering for Samford and Alabama athletics.
