Indeed, SEC compliance has moved into an entirely new realm of complex compliance since the sweeping and monumental passage of the Sarbanes Oxley Act in 2002. In short, the pressures and responsibilities of financial reporting and corporate governance for public companies have never been greater.

Long before the passage of Sarbanes Oxley, PKM had built a well-established SEC audit practice that prided itself with staying at the forefront of evolving regulatory change. Since the passage of the Act, the firm has further solidified its knowledge base and today is among the top 25 firms in the country that service public company clients. We work with over 40 SEC registrants, demonstrating the highest levels of knowledge, judgment and expertise necessary to understand compliance with regulatory authorities.

PKM Partner Sal Inserra, in particular, has augmented our Sarbanes-Oxley expertise. Sal served on the PKF North American Network Sarbanes-Oxley Task Force, which was responsible for educating member firms on the early developments of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act. He also participated in interviews with the Government Accountability Office (GAO) on behalf of the Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship to review the effects of Sarbanes-Oxley on small public and private companies. In addition, PKM Principal Sonny MacArthur currently serves on the PKF North American Network Public Companies Task Force, which keeps member firms current with regulations that affect public companies.

Beyond our hands-on experience, PKM associates stay current with accounting standards as prescribed by the Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB).
