Proper Training at PKM

Rachel Reid

Audit Intern

June 20, 2016

When I started my internship at PKM, I was unsure of what was to come over the following eight weeks. I knew the people were great after meeting so many staff members during recruitment; however, I had no idea how the work was going to be. I knew I was going to work a good bit with banks, but that left me even more nervous because I knew even less about banks as I did about auditing. Thankfully, my entire first week was spent training me in preparation of what I was going to experience in the field. PKM stresses the importance of quality work, and they really do a great job giving you the resources to reach the quality they desire.

My first engagement was a week full of cash counts. Definitely a lighter workload than most weeks, but I could not be more grateful for the help and encouragement I received from the staff that first week. I received great tips (like don’t pull the bait or else the police will come) and my in charge was there to help me every step of the way. By the end of the week, I felt much more comfortable with bank procedures and was confident in my work. Looking back to my first day, I feel silly for questioning whether or not I would succeed at this internship. With such great people supporting you, it is pretty hard to fail.
