Interning in a Better Environment

During the recruitment process at Georgia State, I had the pleasure of speaking with employees at different levels within PKM at several events. Christie, Nadine, Rob, Anna Kay, and Maria were great representatives of the firm and the firm’s culture. Based on my interactions with them and others, I felt that this was a work environment that I had wanted to join. It is my opinion that the company has been successful in creating a sense of belonging and fostering employee participation and camaraderie.

Throughout my short time here, there has been no shortage of food and company sponsored activities. Between the Christmas party, office lunches, buddy outings, and various events and meeting, I have had to get a gym membership to avoid buying a new wardrobe. Not only do we eat together, but we also laugh together. My team has a great sense of humor and there is not a day that goes by that I do not smile and laugh while I am at work.

As far as work is concerned, I am constantly being presented with new challenges and situations and I have been given the freedom to do my job without being micro-managed. PKM is always evolving and looking for ways that it can improve by soliciting employee feedback. They even encourage a healthy balance between life and work because they know we work hard and take our responsibilities to our clients very seriously. Being given the opportunity to work from home at times after coming off the road has been a great help in achieving that balance. From my experience, it has been my pleasure to work for a company that is growing in the right direction and taking care of their employees.
