A Quote from Mean Girls
As Amy Poehler described herself in Mean Girls, I think the same can be said about PKM. PKM is not like a regular firm, PKM is a cool firm. Now that might sound cheesy, but after 4+ years of working here I genuinely believe that. One of my favorite things about PKM is the number of fun activities, or “funtivities”, as some around the firm call them. Throughout the year PKM puts on a number of social events outside of working hours (or during business hours in some cases) for its employees. In fact, we even have a whole committee devoted to coming up with fun ideas: The Social and Activity Committee. Some of my favorite events include the annual Christmas party (it was black tie this past year), the party held at the end of busy season, and the half-week Firm training at the golf club (some training occurred on the golf course that week). Not only are these activities fun, but they also allow you the chance to bond with your colleagues on a personal level, which makes working together that much more enjoyable.
While all these events are fun, they have also helped me make many lasting friendships at the Firm, which has in turn, spawned into their own funtivities. While they are not Firm sponsored, groups of PKMers have had bowling leagues, trips to Panama City, weekend football trips to Ole Miss, and the list goes on and on. While I have been part of many of these, there are number of them that I’ve missed. I think that’s another thing that makes PKM so great; you can be involved in these outside activities as much, or as little, as you want. But at the end of the day, you have the option. Being a transplant from Ohio and knowing only a few people when I first moved to Atlanta, PKM and the culture has been a blessing. I have built many friendships at the firm, had a number of good times, and picked up a few hilarious stories along the way. Now, don’t take my word for it, reach out to a PKMer and come see for yourself.
