Entering a new environment can be intimidating. You are learning new things and getting to know your surroundings and more often than not it can be overwhelming. Confidence is everything when entering a new environment, but being overconfident can quickly give others the wrong impression. There is a balance that you have to reach so that you don’t seem cocky but you do seem capable.

When taking a new step in life or turning the next chapter, it is crucial to first have a certain amount of security in yourself. Confidence is simply the feeling or belief that one can rely on someone or something; its having a firm trust in yourself and knowing that you have the ability to succeed.

Being the new kid on the block, there will be many things that you don’t know, but as long as you show that you are willing learn, and present yourself as willing to do your research, you will be able to succeed. Knowing how to valuable questions and being humble about what you already know are two characteristics that will get you far.

Working as a team is also crucial when working in this type of environment. A team only works when everyone is on same page, and when everyone understands the task at hand and is moving towards the same goal. It’s an “All-In Effort”. I always say “never be a liability, always be an asset” in whatever role, position or environment you step in. So ask yourself, are you the one that your team members can rely upon to get the task done? Are you reliable? The one that is willing to go the extra mile to help? If so, welcome to the team.
