My Experience as a Marketing Intern at PKM
Jordan Corbin- Marketing Intern
As my internship at Porter Keadle Moore comes to a close, I find it hard to put into words how much this summer has taught me. When I first arrived at PKM, I was unsure of what to expect. While my mom has set an example for me of what the marketing world is like, this internship gave me the first hand experience I have always craved. After the first few weeks at PKM, I quickly realized how much I would be learning throughout the summer.
When I was asked to start my first project, I was pretty nervous about such a big undertaking. Nevertheless, I worked very hard and as a result, have been happy with what I accomplished. It was comforting to know that I had so many people willing to help me with anything I needed throughout all of the work I did this summer. Everyone at PKM, even the partners, were always willing to help. They all set a great example for me of what I would like to do in the business world. Everyone was very driven and hardworking, but could also have fun at work as well. My supervisor always had an open door policy which made it easy to go to her whenever I needed help with something.
After completing this internship, I feel much more confident of my place in the business world. Before starting at PKM, I was very unsure of what I would do with a business degree or if this was the right major for me at all. After being involved in the environment of a firm like PKM, I can definitely see myself pursuing a career in business, maybe even in marketing. Overall, the biggest advantage of this internship, for me, was the real world experience I have gained. While the business classes I take at Indiana University prepare me very well, they are nothing compared to first hand experience. This internship was definitely a lot of hard work, but at the same time was also very rewarding and fun!
