After June 15, 2011, SAS No 70, Service Organizations Reports are no longer available. After almost two decades of use, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) is replacing the SAS No 70, Service Organization Reports with Service Organization Controls (SOC) Reports. The overall intent of the new attestation standards and the associated SOC report(s) still remain the same. That is, to produce a report that allows the reader to understand Control Environment and control activities of the service provider. However, there are several areas of change that your organization needs to consider now to avoid any confusion or miscommunication about the SOC report(s) that your service provider(s) will be giving you this fall.
